Electron Microscopy Resource Center
| The Pathology Electron Microscopy Laboratory is a fee for service technical resource center serving researchers at the University of Washington and affiliates. The facility is fully equipped for the preparation and examination of biological material using most standard transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques. The facility is staffed to provide technical assistance in the design and implementation of research protocols as proposed by the investigator. The facility is also fully equipped to provide digital imagery. The preparatory lab includes technical services and specialized preparatory equipment such as ultramicrotomes, critical point dryer, sputter coater, vacuum evaporator, vibratome, etc. All technical assistance including specimen preparation and sectioning is provided on a "time and materials" cost basis at a rate of $51.00/hr for technician time and any associated materials cost. |
Instruments available for ultrastructural examination include: high resolution JEOL JEM 1200EXII transmission electron microscope with an Olympus Morada 11 megapixel digital camera (with SIS iTEM image analysis software), and a field emission JEOL JSM 6300F scanning electron microscope with digital image capture. They are available for use by the investigators at a base session rate of $113 an hour. Investigators may also request technical assistance at session rate + technician time ($113/hr + $49/hr). The lab is staffed Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm and is located in Room E-071 of the UW Health Sciences building. General Inquiries: emresearch@pathology.washington.edu |
