Graduate Program - Molecular Basis Of Disease
Admissions
Prospective Student Information
The Pathology Graduate Program in the Molecular Basis of Disease leads to a Ph.D. The Pathology Department does not accept students into a Masters degree program, nor is a Masters degree conferred as a step toward the Ph.D.
Students seeking admission to the Pathology doctoral degree program should have completed a baccalaureate or advanced degree by the time of matriculation; degrees in biological, chemical, or physical sciences are preferred. Satisfactory completion of courses in organic chemistry, biochemistry, genetics, cell biology, and statistics is recommended. Applicants should be fluent in English. Individuals with advanced degrees in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine are encouraged to apply.
Please visit the Graduate School website to apply online. Please note that effective July 1, 2010 the fee to submit an application is $75.
Applications must be completed by January 1st to ensure consideration for admission in the following fall quarter. Notification of action on application is given by April 15th. In special circumstances, applications from highly qualified individuals will be considered at other times of the year. Highly ranked applicants will usually be scheduled to visit with members of the department and be interviewed by members of the Pathology Graduate Faculty. Top-ranked applicants will usually have their travel expenses paid for by the Department.
Generally, four to six graduate students are accepted each year.
